Synopsis
About What We Left in Seoul
Twenty-seven-year-old chemical engineer Amara Clarke leaves Toronto for Seoul to lead the integration of a Korean family company. Her job is to carry out decisions she did not make while protecting the employees who will pay for them. Kang Min-jae, the founder’s thirty-year-old son, sees Amara as the face of everything his family is losing. He is cold, controlled, and determined to keep her at a distance—until hostility gives way to a secret relationship neither of them can afford. Then evidence makes it appear that Amara used Min-jae’s private confession to benefit her employer. Convinced she betrayed him, he ends their relationship with calculated cruelty. Amara returns to Canada with her career damaged and no way to prove the truth. Three years later, she is sent back to rescue Min-jae’s troubled Ochang project. She is demoted, guarded, and still drawn to the man who refused to hear her. When another accusation threatens her career, Min-jae finally investigates instead of assuming the worst. But discovering who framed Amara cannot undo what he did. To earn even the possibility of a second chance, Min-jae must confront his father, correct the public record, surrender the project he fought years to build, and stop deciding what is best for Amara. This time, she will choose what happens next.
Author notes
Thank you for reading What We Left in Seoul. This is a complete, high-angst, slow-burn second-chance romance with explicit adult intimacy. Reader guidance: workplace power dynamics, false accusations, emotional cruelty during a breakup, family manipulation, corporate sabotage, industrial accidents and fire, injury, and illness. The central romance has an optimistic ending.
